Military Police Special Zone of Dar es Salaam, Singida East MP linamshikilia who is also a lawyer for the Association for Democracy and Development (Chadema) Tundu Lissu for alleged seditious statement.
Speaking to journalists in his office in Dar es Salaam yesterday, the commander of the Special Zone, Commissioner Simon Sirro, said Lissu was arrested yesterday in Dodoma when he was coming out of the sessions.
He said after the arrest, they had to transport him to Dar es Salaam where allegedly there was kotolea statements that claim may endanger the peace of the country.
"Tumemkamata Den Lissu yesterday in Dodoma and transported to Dar es Salaam night so he could be brought to the station for questioning due to his hateful statement that may endanger the peace of the country," said Sirro.
He said he is not the first time for the leader's statement and called the station for questioning, but done after he had been allowed to continue to provide them again.
Sirro said given the situation, the army continues to interview and that the investigation is completed they will throw him to court for further action.
He said as a result, tomorrow (today) will provide full information about the alleged inflammatory statements that the public can know.
And the leader of the opposition camp in Parliament, Freeman Mbowe, said he was concerned by the actions of MPs being arrested in the forums, while silently endures the Bureau of Parliament would make a statement.
Speaking yesterday after visiting Lissu, who is in custody of the Central Police Station, Dar es Salaam, Mbowe said the Office of the Legislative Assembly knows they have legal protection, but that they did not take action or give any statements.
"We deplore the actions of legislators while catch in the sessions and especially the parliamentary opposition, they continue to arrest others imprisoned and others potezewa their time of Parliament.
"MPs are arrested Dodoma flown midnight as thugs then denied bail, the leaders of Parliament do not give any statement ... these things happening is not normal," said Mbowe.
Lissu said he interviewed for his statement purported to be inflammatory, while discussing the issue of hunger in the nation.
"Now Lissu of Chadema as other leaders, other political parties and different religious denominations, they cautioned nature of hunger in the nation. But within the Assembly Government statement issued by the Minister of Agriculture confirmed that more than 1.5 million people suffer from hunger and nearly 200,000 have a severe problem of hunger.
"The statement zoongea Lissu zimeshathibitika not lying and we surprised a month has passed and the government has already issued a statement confirming the accusations raised by religious leaders, political and even social, but still had hold of Lissu and have refused to give guarantees," he said.
Mbowe said the party leaders will meet with their lawyers to critically reflect what action to take.
